Muriel MacRae has always loved to travel, and after a successful career teaching, received her certification as a travel agent and a wedding planner. With her love of palm trees and the sun, she decided that her company had to involve these two things. As a result, the name "Del Sol" comes from the Spanish word meaning " the sun" and the palm trees represent any place warm.

Loving to travel, Muriel has visited numerous corners of the world - Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Fiji, Australia,and Europe. She has seen a live volcano in Costa Rica, climbed the first five steps of the Mayan Pryamid at Chichen Itza (she doesn't like heights and decided she did not need the experience), flown in a helicopter over Kauai's Na Pali's coast, swam in the Great Barrier Reef in Austrailia, and watched "Westside Story" on the London stage. She loves to cruise and keeps going back to the many islands in the Caribbean.

Her company, Del Sol Travel, has helped many couples plan their destination wedding, honeymoon, or romantic travel in tropical locations. Muriel also helps numerous clients plan trips to tropical destinations so they can escape the harsh reality of Canadian winters. She has first hand experience with many cruise ship itineraries as well as numerous countries and resorts, allowing her to advise clients in planning their perfect vacation.

 

Muriel has two grown children,  daughter Cathy  who works with her in her business, and a son who is an opera singer who also works for a Calgary oil company. She currently lives in Calgary with her husband and their newest addition to the family, puppy Molly. She is an avid photographer, loves scrapbooking, exploring new places, reading, walking, and travelling any place warm.

 

Muriel is also a certified member of the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada. She is a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants, WPIC Alumni,  Rock Star Wedding Planners, and Outside Sales Support Network.

Cathy MacRae is an entrepreneur as well as a certified wedding and event planner with both the Wedding  Planning Institute of Canada and QC Wedding Planning. After spending 15 years teaching band and choir in the Calgary public school system, she decided to put her expertise for organizing performances, band camps, music tours,and fundraisers to good use and made a career change. Once completing her wedding planning certification, she started Creative Weddings and Occasions, specializing in planning unique wedding celebrations for couples in and around the Calgary, Alberta area, and nearby Rocky mountain towns of Banff, Canmore, and Lake Louise. Cathy is also a certified destination wedding consultatn with WPPIC. She is proud to be a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants , WPIC Alumni, and Rockstar Wedding Planners.

 

Since beginning her company, Cathy has become even more aware of the increasing need engaged couples have for hiring a wedding planner. Few couples have the real time and energy that planning a beautiful wedding requires. Her expertise and ideas are saving couples time and money while they plan their upcoming nuptials.

 

Cathy has always enjoyed seeing the world, and has travelled extensively through Canada, the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Australia, and the Caribbean. She is well experienced with numerous countries and resorts, allowing her to advise couples on romantic destinations that would best suit their wedding dreams or honeymoon plans. 

 

Currently living in Calgary with her two puppies, Ally and Jazz, Cathy believes strongly in giving back to the community. When not planning weddings, she volunteers her time with the Alberta International Band Festival as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Southern Alberta Festival. She is also a member of the Calgary Optimists Dinner Club, an organization that focuses on bringing out the best in youth. Part of the larger organization of Optimists International, they do a variety of activities and fundraisers that support youth involvement in sports and fine arts activities in and around Calgary.
